What is SACR?

Quite simply, SACR is a rig developed by Sakura for use in Blender in the creation of Minecraft Character based renders with a huge emphasis on a large feature package without the performance drawback typically associated with having all of those features.

Revision 7 contains many improvements and changes over it's predecessor, Revision 6. These changes include but are not limited to improved shape Keys, optimized mesh and drivers, return of full rig bone shapes, and a compltetely redone face rig mesh. All changes in R7 aims to bring SACR back to it's roots as an Advanced yet Lightweight Rig that can be used by anyone and everyone, no matter what PC Specs you have.


SACR R6, released 2 years ago on Blender 2.93 has recieved a minor refresh to clean up two main issues present on the rig for Blender 3.3, being non-functional materials and extreme lag. SACR R6.1 is still offered as Blender 3.6 changed the file structure of blender save files (.blend), making it impossible to open or append newer rigs such as SACR R7 in versions older than Blender 3.6.


The SACR Github Repository is a great place to find old Stable and Experimental Builds of SACR, and has undergone a complete overhaul at the end of Aug 2024 to have each major version separated by branch rather than having Stable and Experimental in two different repositories, and having each major version in separate folders within each repo.

SACR is licensed under the MIT License, as such, users are allowed to download, modify, and redistribute SACR as one's own, however the Rig Creator, Sakura, requests that should one use or modify the SACR rig that credit be given to him. SACR is a free, open source and public rig for use by anyone in their projects, and will forever remain free.
